Conferences
As a member of AURHA, you have the opportunity to receive funding to attend many health conferences around Australia, right throughout the year.
In March this year, a dozen lucky AURHA members were lucky enough to attend the NRHN Forum, and the National Rural Health Conference.
The NRHN Forum is a chance for members of all the rural health clubs around Australia to get together and get enthused about rural health. Also, the forum offers opportunities to learn more about what the clubs have to offer, and ideas on what your club can do to improve. Because of extremely positive feedback on the evaluation of the forum, there may be another one held soon. Watch this space for more info, and when there is a call for applications, get in quick!
The National Rural Health Conference is held every two years, and is the key event for rural health professionals in Australia. Attended by over 1000 professionals, this conference is a great opportunity for health students to learn more about rural health, and to meet some amazing people from throughout the country. The next National Rural Health Conference will be held in Cairns in 2009, and AURHA is once again hoping to offer their members the opportunity to attend.
AURHA members can also apply to attend other health conferences of their choosing, through the NRHN’s ‘Conferences of National Significance Program’. If there is a conference you would like to attend, which you believe is relevant to rural health, you can apply for funding to attend through the ‘CoNS’ program. What a great opportunity! It has been a while since AURHA sent anyone through this program, so we would love to receive your application, or your enquiry to find out more. Members from Nursing, Dentistry and Oral Health are especially encouraged to check out some of the upcoming conferences in their disciplines.
More information about the CoNS program, including some upcoming conferences, is available on the NRHN website, at http://www.nrhn.org.au/site/index.cfm?display=39664.
